The Membership meeting today was attended by approximately 25 members. Members agreed that the continued use of winter poles in the mooring area during the summer was a nuisance and that MAMA should do something about it. After a general discussion of the winter pole problem, the members agreed that MAMA should implement a mooring registration system. The registration system would also work as a bulletin board so that members of the public interested in purchasing moorings could be placed in contact with those interested in selling moorings. It was further agreed that MAMA would use the proceeds from the registration fees to purchase mooring buoys and hire vendors to exchange winter poles with buoys on those moorings with poles on during the summer. Notices would be posted indicating when mooring poles must be removed and those moorings with poles on them after this date would be deemed abandoned and confiscated by MAMA. MAMA would then proceed with selling abandoned moorings to the public, with proceeds to be placed in the general fund. It was also agreed that MAMA's counsel should attend the meeting with the Coast Guard and take whatever steps or make whatever commitments that are necessary to  allow the continued use of winter poles.
